New York, NY — Shock waves spread through the comedy world over the weekend when popular satirist and former fake news writer Andy Borowitz announced that he was accepting a position on the Trump team as a speech writer. The decision to join the team, which Mr. Borowitz said didn’t come lightly, has thrown the entire satirical world into disorder.
“I know Andy. I’ve read him for years,” said President Trump over the weekend. “He’s great. He’ll be great. He knows the whole fake news thing and will be a perfect addition to the team hugely real team we have here.”
Although most people know Andy Borowitz for his witty and whimsical The Borowitz support, fewer know that he was responsible for the hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which starred then newbie actor Will Smith. It was his early Hollywood involvement where he ran into Donald Trump. They have maintained an intimate relationship over the ensuing years.
“With a knack for turning news into silliness, Mr. Borowitz will now be tasked with turning silliness into news,” said a White House insider. “And look, President Trump’s speeches up until this point have been very wooden and frankly uninteresting. Andy should be able to spice them up. I mean, what’s wrong with a good laugh?”
Mr. Borowitz is expected to join the team sometime in March.
