For Nevada City cat Bella, life hasn’t worked out the way she planned.

Nevada City, CA — An area cat recently admitted that her life just isn’t turning out the way she expected. Bella, a middle-aged tabby cat said that she had dreams of freedom and endless supplies of canned tuna, none of which came to pass.

“When I was younger, I used to not worry about such things,” said a clearly depressed Bella. “Now I just spend my days sitting in the window watching it all go by. I’m just not into much anymore. And besides, what’s the point? Nothing has turned out like I planned.”

According to Bella’s owner, Stacy Grant , she’s given her cat everything a feline could hope for.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into Bella,” said a confused Ms. Grant on the steps of her Cottage Street home. “I mean, she’s had a great life with no worries. I just think she’s depressed and she’ll get over it. It’s a phase.”

Bella, who just turned eight this past summer, has indeed led a charmed life. She has never had an empty food bowl, and the Grant family even installed a pet door so she can come and go as she pleases. She even enjoys a great deal of respect from the family dog Bubbles, who tends to avoid any contact with the disgruntled cat.

“I know what you’re thinking,” continued Bella, “I’m spoiled. I have it all and I’m not happy. Well whoop-dee-do. It doesn’t change my feelings one bit. Maybe one day I’ll travel or see greater parts of the neighborhood. Maybe its just that Fall-sad-thing. You know, seasonal affective disorder or something? Who knows. All I know is I’ve lost the will to live, but I’m too bored to do anything about it.”
